"The impact that A.R.T.S. for People has on this facility . . . is unbelievable. Residents that hardly move, or act scared all the time, suddenly smile, dance, move and sing . . . In the hours that your therapists are there, the whole facility is energized."

A.R.T.S. Receives the first-ever “Excellence in Communications” Award

October 30 2001

A.R.T.S. for People received the first-ever “Excellence in Communications” Award from the Center for Nonprofit Management for its efforts to assure it is meeting its mission most effectively. As A.R.T.S. for People’s two-person office staff schedules more programs and works with new facilities and new therapists and artists, it’s critical to communicate well. Two years ago, A.R.T.S. averaged 237 program hours a month; last year, that grew to 273 hours and we anticipated at least as much growth this year without any additional office help. (So far this year, we are averaging 326.5 hours.) To supplement ongoing informal feedback and site visits, A.R.T.S. held a recognition event for activity directors, conducted a formal quantitative and qualitative survey, and followed up with qualitative interviews to focus on identified needs. We shared results with all involved, and are now implementing action steps.
